What I Would Tell My 15 Year Old Self

Let’s say you could go back in time… cool right? But what sort of things would you tell to your younger self? 6 years ago, I was a shy/awkward little 15 year old teenager who had no idea where life was going to take me. I made some pretty dumb mistakes and I use to cry over the stupidest of things. If you had the chance, what would you say to your 15 year old self? Here’s a few things that I’d say…

1  .    You have such lovely, thick hair. DO NOT dye it! It’ll only just become thinner and dryer in the years to come.

2  .    Stop crying over him. It may seem like the end of the world but I promise you someone a lot better will come along very soon and make you the happiest you’ve ever been.

3  .    Honey. That pale blue eyeshadow with that glittery eyeliner does not compliment you in the slightest.

4  .    Stop being a slob and just apply for jobs. You have nothing to worry about, you will get there in the end. You never know if you never try.

5  .    You think you’ll be moved out by the time you turn 20/21? Nope. Not going to happen. It’s too expensive. Which brings me onto my next point – start saving now.

6  .    Some friends will come and go. You’ll drift apart and may never see them every again. But you will be okay with that because you best friend will stick around forever.

7  .    Maybe invest in some dry shampoo for your greasy-ass side swept fringe that you don’t stop touching every 2 minutes!

8  .    It’s hard but stop getting so upset over those d*^ks that keep calling you fat. You’re going to lose weight and they have still got an ugly personality so, who wins?

9  .    You’re going to experience a lot of rough patches throughout life. Don’t dwell on them, they will eventually pass.

1  . TAKE YOUR GOD DAMN MAKEUP OFF. Don’t constantly sleep with it on and then apply more over the top the next morning. (yes I really did this) Who even am I?

1  .   You will constantly get told that your lips are “too big”. Embrace it. Plump lips are all the hype right now.

1  .   You’re going to be rubbish at maths but that’s okay.

1  .   Your anxiety is extremely bad right now but you will get help and you won’t go through it alone.

1  .   Stop whatever you’re doing and don’t send that text. The dreaded 3am texts where you’re not actually thinking straight. Just don’t do it.

1  .   Please don’t pluck your eyebrows to oblivion. Or just go to a professional.

1  .   House parties are great. Although, you don’t need to get absolutely slaughtered to have a good time. You won’t remember anything the next day and you’ll feel like crap.

1  .   Make the most out of family time. Throughout everything you go through, family will always be there at the end of the day. They’re your rock. Don’t take advantage of it.

1  .   Thigh gaps? Stop stressing. You don’t need them.

1  .   Say yes more.
